Tigers Score in NCAA Meet

Buffalo, N.Y.-Senior Lacena Golding became Auburn's first scorer at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a fifth-place in the long jump.

Golding jumped 20 feet, three and 3/4 inches in the event that was won by Angie Brown of George Mason at 21-7 1/2. Golding won the event at the SEC Championships. She also won the heptathlon and the 100-meter hurdles while being named the top female track and field athlete in the SEC. Golding is not competing in the heptathlon at the NCAA meet, but is scheduled to run the hurdles.

For the men's team, junior All-American Aaron Richberg did not qualify for the finals of the 800 meters with his time of 1:48.69. He was expected to reach the finals and challenge for the top spot.

Another member of the men's team, Coby Miller, ran a 20.96 in the 200 meters to win his heat and advance to the semifinals on Friday. Miller will also run in the 100. His best time this year is 10.23.

Other Auburn national qualifiers include Nakeitra Jones and Magon Moncrieffe in the women's triple jump and Andre Scott, a senior who is making his fourth straight trip to the triple jump NCAA competition.
